Today we went to Papa and Grandma Jennifer's pond and went ice skating. Carter had never been and like most things with Carter, he was a natural. I am always amazed at him. He has no fear and is usually good at whatever he tries. I was never one to try anything new and I am always glad he does not take after me! Riley had more fun riding in the sled behind the go kart. Matt got the go kart out and did some spins on the ice before taking the kids around and around and around the pond on the sled.

Indoor Soccer 2010
Here is a short video of soccer. Riley scored her very first goal in last weeks game. Unfortunately I did not get video of that. She was soooo excited!

Another great weekend
Friday was very eventful. All four of us had the day off so we got up early to go ice fishing with Papa Ron. We went fishing at the club where we keep our boat. We caught 20 fish and the kids had a great time. Friday night was Daddy Daughter Prom and Riley just loves getting dressed up and going with her dad. She was so excited all day and she kept telling me that she wished the time would go faster. We spent a long time getting her hair done just right and she was really excited that I got her dad a shirt/tie to match her dress. Carter and I stayed home and cleaned the fish! We did some puzzles and had a nice time at home.

A Fantastic Weekend
Friday night we stayed home and had game night. It really is so much fun now that Carter can participate. We played Trouble and some Wizard Jr. Riley started indoor soccer Saturday but her game was not until 1:00pm. We are so used to morning games that it threw me off all day. We spent the morning cleaning and working on some projects (not very successfully even after two trips to Lowes). After her game I was able to do some shopping and then we played cards at my moms. Sunday morning my dad and I took the kids ice fishing for their first time. I was really excited to see how they did because i would love to ice fish all the time but was not sure how into it they would be. They were very excited but that means nothing once you are out there. We were out there for at least 15 minutes before they started looking for other things to do. After two hours and no fish (not even a bite) we called it quits. The good news is that neither of my kids asked if we could leave once. I was pretty happy about that and if we were getting bites or even catching fish they would have been more focused.
Carter found a dead fish on the ice when we arrived and he carried it around calling it Buddy. He put it in his pocket for a while while he was sitting on his bucket watching his fishing poles.
We spent the rest of the day at Papa and Grandma's playing with some of their cousins. We went sledding, built snowmen, Riley shot her bow, we had hot cocoa and played for hours. It was a very relaxing day.
We made two snowmen for Grandma and Papa to enjoy.

Ringing in the New Year
We spent New Year's Eve at my moms eating! It seems that is all we did for like a week straight. I know most people feel the same way at the holidays but this year it felt like we ate more than usual. We spent the evening eating and playing games. It was very nice and they even spoiled us with crab legs and lobster tails! YUM! The kids worked all day at home on a banner to decorate with. We made it to midnight and then headed for home.

Deer Season
While sitting in the woods one last time today, I was hoping to be able to post a picture of me with my deer for 2009 (Yes I know technically today is 2010). However, I sat all day, never left the blind, and didn't see a thing. I did not see a deer all season. Today was the last day so I was unsuccessful this year but I spent many hours trying. I do not want to seem like I am complaining at all though. I love every minute of it, well except those few minutes before it gets light and the few minutes after it gets dark that I am alone in the woods (I do not like the dark!) The best part is spending time with my dad and that makes every minute I sit in the woods worth it!!! Thanks Dad!
